March 1 – We invite you to help us share a year’s worth of outcomes for the lands, wildlife and people of the Blackfoot watershed through our annual report. We enjoy telling the story of the Challenge through the eyes of our members, so please help us do it again.

Stream Monitoring Report Now Available

Feb 6 – Two years’ worth of water quality and stream flow monitoring data compiled by Blackfoot Challenge staff and citizen science volunteers. Abbreviated report now available, full report coming soon.

Drought Update: The low flow trigger will not be activated

Sept 8 – The Blackfoot Drought Response Plan includes an extreme low flow trigger for additional water conservation action when river flow falls below 500 cfs. While the Blackfoot is steadily dropping towards that level, the Drought Committee WILL NOT recommend additional water use restrictions due to extreme fire conditions this season.

Take a tour of the Mike Horse Dam & Repository

The Mike Horse Dam is gone, nearly all the tailings have been removed, and Mike Horse and Bear Trap Creeks – the headwaters of the Blackfoot River – are back in their original locations after nearly 100 years. Don’t miss your chance to see this history in the making.

Annual Blackfoot Community Conservation Area Field Tour scheduled for Friday, June 9th

The BCCA Council invites the public to join the annual field tour of the 5,600-acre community area. Stops and discussion topics will include forest and stream restoration, grazing sites, recreation and education opportunities, and future conservation projects. Transportation and food provided; RSVP required.

May Water Supply Report Now Available

Winter kept rolling in across a large part of the state and improved snow totals for May 1 in almost all basins. Snowpack west of the Divide has been above normal since February. April continued to drop snow at high elevations, and cooler weather prolonged the snowpack at mid elevations…
